How the estimate works & common mistakes
Plan 1 cupcake per guest when other desserts are on the table, 2 per guest when cupcakes are the only dessert, and 1.5 per child at a kids party. The calculator rounds the total up to whole cupcakes and then to full dozens, because bakeries sell by the dozen.
Common planning mistakes
- Ordering the exact count instead of dozens - bakeries price by the dozen, so rounding up usually costs the same.
- Planning 2 per person for events that also serve cake or cookies - 1 each is the safe baseline there.
